Kamrup (Assam), 29 January (HS): A heart-rending incident was reported from Assam’s Rangia after a mother and her son lost their lives in a fire accident on Thursday. The tragedy occurred in the Kani Kuchi area under Rangia, where both were severely burnt.

According to sources, the fire broke out suddenly, leaving little time to react. The mother reportedly attempted to save her son from the flames but was herself trapped in the blaze. Both sustained critical burn injuries and killed on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Rita Mani Choudhury (42) and her 19-year-old son, Mozakkar Hussain. The incident has plunged the locality into shock and mourning.

Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire. -----------
