Guwahati, 29 January (HS): In a major step towards strengthening healthcare services for railway employees and the general public, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken a series of initiatives to upgrade medical infrastructure and promote preventive healthcare across its jurisdiction.
As part of these efforts, advanced medical equipment including a Steam Sterilizer Autoclave machine and a state-of-the-art Lasotronix Laser Diode System have been installed at the Central Hospital, Maligaon. These modern facilities are expected to significantly enhance infection control, improve surgical precision and ensure safer, faster and more effective treatment, thereby raising the overall standard of patient care.
Further improving hospital infrastructure, the newly renovated Male Surgical Ward at the Central Hospital, Maligaon was recently inaugurated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava in the presence of senior railway officials. The upgraded ward is equipped with improved infrastructure and patient-centric amenities aimed at ensuring greater comfort and quality healthcare for beneficiaries.
Reinforcing its focus on preventive healthcare and community wellbeing, NFR also organised 126 multipurpose health check-up camps across its divisions. These camps provided medical consultations, health screenings and awareness programmes, benefiting railway employees, their families and local communities, while encouraging early diagnosis and healthy lifestyles.
In another notable achievement, the Alipurduar Division received 10 ‘Eat Right’ Station and Campus Certificates from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The recognition highlights the division’s commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and nutrition at railway stations and campuses.
Together, these initiatives underline Northeast Frontier Railway’s people-centric approach to healthcare excellence, employee welfare and public service, reaffirming its commitment to safe, reliable and compassionate railway operations.---------------
