Lakhimpur (Assam), 23 January (HS): Two persons, including a young man and a young woman, were killed on the spot in a road accident on National Highway-15 within Lakhimpur district headquarters town.

Police said on Friday that a speeding Scorpio vehicle lost control and rammed into a roadside tree on NH-15. By the time a police team reached the accident site, both occupants of the vehicle had succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Mukund Sonowal and Pampy Saikia. Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent them to the hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigation is underway.---------
