Delhi, 4 August (H.S.): Chelsea have signed Jorrel Hato on a seven-year contract for £37m from Ajax Amsterdam, with Ajax retaining an unspecified sell-on clause. The confirmed transfer value by Ajax is €44.18m, approximately £38.3m. Hato is the fifth major signing of the summer, following Dário Essugo, Liam Delap, João Pedro, and Jamie Gittens, and sixth if including Estêvão. He is expected to provide backup for Marc Cucurella but can also play center back.

At just 19, Hato brings significant experience, having made 96 appearances for Ajax across all competitions in the last two seasons and earning four caps for the Netherlands. Hato expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea, stating it's the best step for his career.
