Bahraich,
01 July (HS): On Tuesday, three boys, including two brothers, drowned while
swimming in a hole filled with rainwater beside a canal in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich,
according to officials. The incident occurred along the canal embankment in Sujandeeh
village, Payagpur tehsil, they claimed. According to Payagpur Sub-Divisional
Magistrate Ashwini Pandey, Zainul Abideen (10), Dastagir (9) and their brother
Mohammad Alam (7) went to bathe in a deep trench filled with rainwater along
the canal bank this morning.
He
stated the three youngsters drowned while swimming. According to the SDM,
villagers were able to take the children out and bring them to the nearest
basic health center, but physicians ruled them dead. According to Additional
Superintendent of Police Ramanand Prasad Kushwaha, canal expansion work is
currently occurring in the region.
During
construction, a deep hole created where earth was dug. He said that recent rains had filled the hole
with water, making it a hazard that claimed the lives of the youngsters. According
to SDM Pandey, post-mortem exams have been done on all three bodies, and the
families will shortly receive financial help under disaster relief measures.
