Gorakhpur,
01 July (HS): President Droupadi Murmu started the week-long Van Mahotsav,
which will take place across the country from July 1 to 7, at a university here
on Tuesday, according to authorities. To commemorate the event, the president
planted a 'rudraksha' seedling at the new Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH
University in Gorakhpur, emphasizing the significance of environmental
conservation and sustainable practices.
On
Tuesday, she opened the university at Pipri, Bhathat, Gorakhpur district, which
cost Rs 268 crore. Murmu expressed optimism that Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH
University will become a bridge between tradition and modernity, playing a
critical role in increasing the scientific legitimacy and global acceptance of
Indian traditional medical systems.
Such
institutes will assist AYUSH systems achieve worldwide acceptability and
improve India's soft power in the globe, she said. Uttar Pradesh Governor
Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present. Murmu
spoke with public representatives and toured an exhibition on traditional
healing systems prior to attending the university ceremony. The occasion also
included Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath.
Arun
Kumar Saxena, UP Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent
Charge), inaugurated Triveni Van—a grove of banyan, neem, and
peepal trees—at Kukrail in Lucknow as part of the Van Mahotsav festivities. He
also established an open gym, a yoga meditation facility, and unveiled a statue
of Lord Buddha. Van Mahotsav is observed every year from July 1 to July 7.
