Nala Sopara, 01 July (HS): The Enforcement
Directorate raided 16 places in Mumbai's Nala Sopara on Tuesday. The raids were related to
the 41 unauthorised buildings in Nala Sopara, with the architect and engineers
in the Town Planning Department.
The raids were based on the raid on former
Town Planner Y S Reddi’s residence, in which Rs 8.6 crore cash, diamond
jewellery worth Rs 23.25 crore and gold and silver ornaments were recovered, and
some documents were recovered. During the investigation involvement of some
municipal officers was revealed.
The buildings were constructed by a former
corporator, Sitaram Gupta in connivance with Reddi. Following the raid on Reddi’s
house, the architect fled and is suspected to have flown abroad. The ED
authorities started an investigation in March this year. Information about Tuesday’s
