Ahmedabad , 13 June (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the crash site of an Air India flight that crashed on June 12, shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad, bound for London. After a briefing on the situation, he spent about 20 minutes assessing the crash site before proceeding to the hospital where injured survivors were being treated. Accompanied by Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu, he was received at the Ahmedabad airport by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and state BJP chief CR Patil. Meanwhile, Minister Naidu will oversee the response and coordinate with relevant departments involved in the search and rescue operations.

The crash resulted in the deaths of at least 265 people, and only one survivor from the 242 on board has been reported. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a medical college hostel, causing a massive blaze following its nosedive.
