New Delhi, June 13 (H.S.): The Supreme Court has granted bail to journalist K. Srinivas Rao in a case related to making derogatory comments about Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, during a live TV show. The vacation bench headed by Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra ordered Rao's release. The 70-year-old journalist Srinivas Rao was arrested on June 9. Rao is accused of having a panelist make derogatory comments about Amaravati during a TV show on June 6. The court stated that Srinivas did not himself make such a statement during the live TV show. The petition argued that as a journalist, Srinivas's right to freedom of expression should be protected. However, the court instructed Srinivas Rao not to make derogatory comments in his show and not to allow anyone else to do so.
