Mumbai, 13 June (HS): The Maharashtra Government’s Industries Department and Max
AeroSpace & Aviation Pvt Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish
a helicopter manufacturing unit in Nagpur. The MoU was signed at Mumbai’s
Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Industries Department Secretary Dr Anbalgan P and Chairman of Max AeroSpace
Bharat Malkani. The CEO of MIDC P Velrasu was also present on the occasion..
The
work on the project is expected to start in 2026, under the ‘Make in India’ and
‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ missions. The
project, with an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, will be the first of its kind in
Maharashtra and will generate jobs for about 2,000 people.
The
project with international-level technology, Rotary-wing Customization, will be
a Centre of Excellence for integration and flight testing. The logistic support
will be available at Nagpur Airport.
Fadnavis
expressed happiness over the selection of Nagpur by the company for the project.
Nagpur has created an important space for production of equipment required for
the Indian defence services. He assured full cooperation to the company, so
that the actual production starts in the scheduled time.
Malkani
said that the Maharashtra Government had made all the facilities for
the project. The company will start production as per the schedule. Malkani
said he is originally from Maharashtra and will work for its progress in the
field of helicopter manufacturing.
