Lucknow, 12 June (HS): Yogi Government’s
Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar participated in an important session on child labour
at the International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, the capital of
Switzerland. In this, the International Labour Organization emphasized the dire
need to eliminate all forms of child labour. He praised the efforts made by the
Uttar Pradesh government towards the elimination of child labor. He said that
on the occasion of 'Child Labor Prohibition Day', all of us, including factory
owners, should take a pledge that children will not be employed anywhere from
home to factory. Minister Anil Rajbhar described the Atal Residential Schools
established by the Yogi government as an excellent example of providing
international level school education to the children of workers. He urged the
global community to follow this innovative model of Uttar Pradesh and establish
such schools across the world. Such efforts will prevent children from becoming
child laborers.
Anil Rajbhar said that the Yogi
government is celebrating 'Child Labor Prohibition Week' from June 12 to 19 in
Uttar Pradesh. This week will conclude on 19 June in Lucknow. This will
strengthen the need and efforts for the total elimination of child labor in
Uttar Pradesh. UNICEF will be the partner of the Uttar Pradesh government in
this one-week campaign.
Anil Rajbhar, Minister of Labor and
Employment in the Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh, participated in the
International Labor Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, the capital of
Switzerland. He said that inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas', India has achieved unprecedented achievements
globally in the field of social security coverage in the last 11 years. The
International Labor Organization (ILO) has recognized the historic increase in
social security coverage in India, which was only 19 percent in the year 2015,
now it has increased to 64.3 percent in 2025. India has now reached the second
position in the world by providing social security coverage to more than 94
crore citizens.
This expansion of social security
in India is a direct result of the focused policies of the poor, workers and
the unorganized sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The International Labor Organization has published this achievement of India on
its official ILOSTAT dashboard. International Labor Organization Director
General Gilbert F. Houngbo has also praised India's committed welfare policies
towards the poor and workers under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi.
Preparations to bring 2.5 crore gig
workers under the ambit of social security by 2030: Minister Anil Rajbhar also
participated in a special session organized on the social security rights of
gig and platform workers in Geneva. According to a release issued here on
Thursday, he said that this session has brought an important message for all
the countries that the welfare of gig and platform workers is being seriously
considered at the global level. He said that it was an eye-opening session for
all the countries that the welfare of gig and platform workers is being
seriously considered. About 8 million (80 lakh) workers are engaged in the gig
and platform economy and by 2030 this number will increase to about 24-25
million. It is necessary to protect and improve their social security needs. He
said that the Labor and Employment Department of Uttar Pradesh have started
identifying the needs of these employees and work is in progress on strategies
and modalities.

Secretary (Labour and Employment), Government of Uttar Pradesh, Indian
Ambassador and Permanent Representative Arindam Bakshi, employer and employee
representatives and other officials were members of the Indian delegation at
the conference.
