Guwahati, 13 June (HS): Lieutenant General RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northeast Command, made a courtesy call on Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. An army spokesperson said on Friday that he was accompanied by Lieutenant General Sanjay Malik (SM), GOC of 101 Area and Major General RD Sharma.

During the meeting, discussions were held on enhancing cooperation between the military and civil administration. The talks also discussed the welfare of ex-servicemen, strengthening peace and development in the state and taking forward joint initiatives.

The Governor and the Chief Minister appreciated the important contribution of the army in national security and its active role in the development and welfare programs of the state.

This meeting reflects the commitment of the Indian Army towards further strengthening civil-military coordination in Assam.
