Jammu, 3 May (H.S.): Prof M P Poonia, Campus Director of Baba Farid Group of Institutions (BFGI) and former AICTE Vice Chairman, today highlighted the institute’s commitment to empowering youth through accessible, industry-oriented education.
Talking to media persons during a press conference at the Press Club Jammu, he said BFGI, a NAAC A+ accredited institution with over 30 years of excellence, offers 60 plus approved programs in engineering, management, paramedical, agriculture, law, and more. The institution provides modern infrastructure, 100 percent merit-based scholarships, and strong placement support, ensuring affordability and employability.
Dr Poonia noted that BFGI is registered under PMSSS and is providing scholarship for free education for students from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under this scheme. He said BFGI offers 100 percent tuition fee waiver for ST students from the region, making it one of the most inclusive institutions in North India.
“Under NEP 2020, BFGI’s Applied Learning Model enables students to earn while studying. Implementing the Applied Learning Policy, students can earn stipends through internships and on-campus work opportunities while pursuing their degrees,’ he explained.
Prof Poonia informed that in 2024–25, over 125 top national and international companies, including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HDFC, Amazon, and Deloitte, recruited from BFGI. The institution boasts an 85 percent plus placement rate, with many students securing multiple job offers before graduation.
“BFGI promotes innovation through 125 plus published patents and nurtures startups via its Baba Farid School of Entrepreneurship. It offers live projects and hands-on experience, including paid internships through collaborations with over 30 hospitals and clinics,” he said, adding that the institute has signed an MoU with Arora Classes, Bathinda—known for coaching around 50,000 Punjab Government employees—to provide expert training for Government and PSU competitive exams. It has also partnered with renowned UPSC mentor Avadh Ojha for career guidance and coaching, he further said.
Dr. Poonia invited students from Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh to explore BFGI’s opportunities aimed at education, empowerment and societal upliftment.
