Nagon (Assam), 3 May (HS): Addressing a huge election rally in Samaguri in Nagon district of Assam on Saturday, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made many important announcements in front of the general public. Despite the heat, thousands of people were seen in attendance in this meeting.

The Chief Minister said, There are two important elections to be held this year - Panchayat election in Baisakh and Assembly elections in Chaitra.

Taking a dig at the Congress, he said, during their time only lungi, dhoti, blanket, cotton thread and mosquito net were distributed. They had a scheme - 'Game of stealing the sword of rhinoceros'.

The Chief Minister announced several schemes in the meeting, including sugar, pulses and salt will be available 30 rupees cheaper in ration shops from October 01. The price of LPG will be reduced by up to ₹350 from October. Only ration cards will have to be shown for free admission in schools. In the month of June, women of Kaliabar region will be given assistance of ₹10,000. The government will give ₹300 per month to students appearing for matriculation examination and ₹2,500 per month to BA pass youth for one year.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also targeted Gaurav Gogoi and made sharp remarks about the citizenship of his child.
