Kolkata, 19 March (H.S.): Political tension flared up in West Bengal’s Baruipur on Wednesday ahead of Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s march. Allegations surfaced that Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters showed black flags to Adhikari and raised slogans like ‘Go Back’ and ‘Chor’ (thief). The BJP has accused the TMC of trying to disrupt the situation, while the ruling party has dismissed these allegations.
The political atmosphere was already heated over Suvendu Adhikari’s rally, and as soon as he arrived in Baruipur, chaos erupted. The BJP claimed that TMC workers deliberately staged a protest to create disorder. On the other hand, the TMC argued that public anger is being misrepresented by the BJP for political gains.
With growing clashes between TMC and BJP supporters in Baruipur, the administration has stepped up vigilance. The local police are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any outbreak of violence.
