Hyderabad, 19 March (H.S.): On March 19, Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, presented the state's budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The budget has a total outlay of ₹3.04 lakh crore, with ₹2.27 lakh crore allocated for revenue expenditure and ₹36,504 crore for capital expenditure.
This budget focuses on key areas such as education, health, agriculture, and welfare of marginalized communities. It also includes major initiatives like the Mega Master Plan 2050, HICITI, and affordable housing to boost the state's development and economic growth.
The budget's emphasis on infrastructure development and the Future City initiative is expected to invigorate Hyderabad's real estate sector and attract investments in the state.
However, the allocation of ₹200 crore for hosting the Miss World pageant has sparked controversy and criticism from opposition leaders who question the use of public funds for hosting such events.
Despite this controversy, Telangana's budget for 2025-26 is a comprehensive plan that addresses key areas of development and aims to position the state as a leader in modern technology and sustainable development.
