Chennai, 19 March (H.S.): In a move aimed at providing relief to residents, the Puducherry government has announced a free drinking water scheme for households in the union territory. Starting from April 14, 2025, each household will receive 20 litres of free drinking water per day.
The scheme, which was announced by the Puducherry Chief Minister, aims to alleviate the burden of water expenses on low-income families and ensure that all residents have access to clean drinking water.
The government has made arrangements to supply the free drinking water through the existing water supply network. The scheme is expected to benefit thousands of households in Puducherry, including those in rural and urban areas.
The Puducherry government has allocated necessary funds for the implementation of the scheme, which is expected to be a significant relief to residents, especially during the summer months when water scarcity is a major concern.
With this initiative, the Puducherry government has reiterated its commitment to providing basic amenities to its citizens and ensuring their well-being.
