TMC Issues Whip for MLAs to Attend Last Two Days of Budget Session


Kolkata, 19 March (H.S.) - The Trinamool Congress (TMC) Legislature Party has issued a whip directing all its MLAs to be present in the West Bengal Assembly for the final two days of the ongoing budget session on March 19 and 20.

TMC’s Chief Whip, Nirmal Ghosh, stated that the directive was issued as key legislative decisions are set to be taken during these two days.

According to sources from the Assembly Secretariat, the Business Advisory (BA) Committee will convene on Wednesday, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to be present for the tabling of the supplementary health budget. On Thursday, the finance bill and an education bill will also be presented.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay emphasized the importance of attendance, warning that any MLA failing to comply with the whip would face action. Ghosh further stated that all party legislators would attend in full strength, ensuring the sanctity of the Assembly.

The budget session commenced on February 10 and ran until February 19 in its first phase. The second phase began on March 10 and is now approaching its conclusion.
