NEW DELHI, 19 March (H.S.) : Jewar Airport, an important aviation facility currently
being developed in the Delhi NCR area, will provide direct access to Delhi via
DTC bus services. The Delhi government has suggested the launch of electric bus
services operated by DTC to Jewar Airport, with the goal of providing travellers
with a cost-effective and convenient transportation alternative. This
initiative aims to improve the connectivity between Delhi and Jewar Airport in
the NCR region.
Delhi's Transport Minister, Pankaj Singh, has announced
that this service will be introduced initially as a pilot project. He further
stated that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the
Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Jewar Airport, outlining the terms of
collaboration between the two organizations.
According to the recently introduced initiative, electric
DTC buses will commence operations from three major bus terminals in Delhi:
Anand Vihar, Sarai Rohilla, and Kamla Market. The purpose of these buses is to
provide a cost-effective and environmentally friendly means of transportation
for passengers traveling to Jewar Airport from Delhi. Importantly, women will
benefit from free travel on this route, similar to the complimentary travel
services available to women on other DTC buses across the city. Jewar Airport
is currently being developed as a significant aviation centre in the Delhi NCR
area, intended to serve both passenger and cargo flights. Furthermore, it will
feature direct connectivity to Delhi through the operation of DTC buses.
