Bhubaneswar, 12 March (H.S.): In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering awareness and social responsibility, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters, Cuttack, has launched a Mega Cyclothon across Odisha. The event, spanning 15 districts over 20 days, commenced on 12th March 2025 and will culminate with a grand closing ceremony on 2nd April 2025 at NCC Group Headquarters, Cuttack.

The Cyclothon, undertaken by 01 Officer Major Ashutosh Tripathy,20 NCC cadets and 10 NCC staff, aims to promote road safety, environmental conservation, cyber security, educational empowerment, anti-drug abuse, and awareness on NCC and Armed Forces opportunities. Covering a distance of 850 km, the cadets are cycling through major cities and towns, interacting with students, youth, and local communities through awareness programs and interactive sessions.

The Flag-Off Ceremony was held at Puri today with much enthusiasm, marking the beginning of this ambitious journey. Colonel Satyabrata Swain was the Chief Guest of the Flag Off ceremony.The cadets will be welcomed at various educational institutions along the route, where they will be engaging with young minds and inspiring them to become responsible citizens. The event is being conducted in coordination with the Higher Education Department and Commerce & Transport Department and Police authorities, ensuring logistical, medical, and administrative support throughout the journey.

The Closing Ceremony is scheduled on 2nd April 2025 at NCC Group Headquarters, Cuttack. The cadets will be felicitated for their dedication and commitment to social causes.

Speaking about the initiative, Colonel Satyabrata Swain, Group Commander, NCC Cuttack, stated, “This Cyclothon is not just a journey; it is a mission to inspire, educate, and empower communities. The cadets are embodying the spirit of service, discipline, and leadership that NCC stands for.”

The event has garnered immense appreciation from citizens, institutions, and government bodies alike. With the unwavering dedication of NCC cadets, the Mega Cyclothon is set to leave a lasting impact on Odisha’s youth, reinforcing the values of nation-building, discipline, and social awareness.
