Elderly man dies in hit-and-run Incident in Mayurbhanj


Bhubaneswar, 5 February (H.S.): An elderly man was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in Jhinkapada village, located under the Kaptipada police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased, identified as Kripa Sindhu Sethi from Gaud village, was struck by a speeding vehicle on the Udla-Kaptipada main road while out for a morning walk on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred near Jhinkapada Chhak, about two kilometers from his home, when a car returning from Cuttack hit him from behind and fled the scene.

Sethi was thrown onto the road and succumbed to his injuries at the spot, as reported by eyewitnesses, who described the accident as the result of reckless driving.

Upon receiving information, Kaptipada police rushed to the site and launched an investigation into the incident. Police have detained Amarendra, the person who had rented the car involved, for questioning. The body of Kripa Sindhu Sethi has been sent to Udla hospital for an autopsy.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, and efforts are underway to trace the driver responsible for the fatal crash.
