Howrah, 30 December (H.S.): The Special Task Force (STF) in Howrah district has taken major action, arresting two brothers with illegal firearms and live ammunition. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ravindra Prasad (32) and Jitendra Prasad (29). Both are residents of Fakir Bagan Lane in Salkia, Pilkhana, under the Golabari police station in Howrah.

According to police sources, the two were apprehended near Strand Road. During a search, a total of three illegal weapons were recovered from two separate bags they were carrying, including one 7.65 mm pistol and two single-shot guns. Additionally, 21 rounds of live ammunition were also seized.

When questioned about the weapons, the accused could not provide any valid documents or satisfactory explanation for possessing them. Following this, both were arrested. A case is being registered at Kolkata Police STF station under the relevant sections of the law.

The police stated that the arrested individuals will be produced in court on Wednesday. The police are currently investigating the origin of the weapons and the intended use.
