Lucknow,

25 Dec (HS): The birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan

Malaviya, founder of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and Bharat Ratna Atal

Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India, were celebrated on Thursday in

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. On the birth anniversaries of both great men, Namami

Gange paid tribute to them at the Ganga Dwar of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The

birth anniversaries of Bharat Ratna Mahamana and Atal ji were celebrated by

performing aarti of Mother Ganga. Holding the national flag and pictures of

Mahamana and Atal ji, everyone took an oath to fulfill the resolve of cleaning

the Ganga.

They

remembered Mahamana by internalizing his inspiration, May the Ganga flow

and keep flowing. Rajesh Shukla, coordinator of Namami Gange Kashi

region, said on this occasion that Mahamana wished that Mother Ganga, a symbol

of India's prosperity, progress, and dynamism, be pollution-free, pure, free

from obstacles, and flow uninterrupted. This is in India's best interest. He

explained that during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee,

a vision was conceived to address problems ranging from irrigation to flooding

by linking rivers across the country. The River Linking Project included a plan

to link 60 rivers, including the Ganges. Atalji's goal was to reduce the

monsoon dependence of millions of hectares of cultivable land. We should

celebrate the birthdays of these two great men by setting the goal of cleaning

and maintaining the Ganga's flow. Arjun Singh, Shubham Upadhyay, Navneet Kumar,

Shivali Kumari, and Harsh Arya also participated in the event.
