Kolkata, 24 December (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute to Dwijen Mukhopadhyay, a shining star of Bengal's music world, on his death anniversary. Sharing a post on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that Dwijen Mukhopadhyay was an invaluable asset to the Bengali music industry.

In her message, Mamata Banerjee wrote that she was fortunate to have received Dwijen Mukhopadhyay's affection and blessings. She said that the Rabindra Sangeet and modern songs sung by Dwijen Mukhopadhyay are a priceless legacy not only for Bengal but for the entire Indian music world.

The Chief Minister specifically mentioned his famous song Jago Durga, sung at dawn on Mahalaya, saying that this composition has become an enduring cultural identity of Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee also said that it is a matter of pride for Bengal that her government honored Dwijen Mukhopadhyay with the Banga Bibhushan award in 2011 and the Sangeet Mahasamman award in 2012. She said that Dwijen Mukhopadhyay's contribution to Bengali culture and music will always be remembered.
