A total of 20,115 women beneficiaries received cheques of ₹10,000 each as initial capital support under the scheme. Of these, 18,461 beneficiaries belong to rural areas, while 1,654 are from urban areas of the constituency.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to capitalise on every opportunity to empower Assam’s Nari Shakti and make women economically independent. He described the atmosphere in Naharkatia as symbolic, where the fragrance of the famed nahor flower blended with the spirit of dignity and self-reliance among women.
The MMUA is a flagship initiative of the Assam government designed to promote entrepreneurship among women by providing financial assistance and support at the grassroots level, enabling them to become Atmanirbhar and contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
