
Mumbai, 24 Dec (HS): The State Election Commission
has banned publication of advertisements on print and electronic media, after
the end of campaigning for the municipal corporation elections. The campaigning
ends at 5.30 pm on January 13 for the polling scheduled for January 15.
Election Commissioner Dinesh Waghmare and Secretary
Suresh Kakani addressed representatives of various political parties on
Wednesday. Waghamare informed that the voting will be held between 7.30 am and
5.30 pm on January 15. As per the rules campaigning will end 48 hours before
the end of polling time, i. e. at 5.30 pm on January 13.
Kakani made a systematic presentation on the
election procedure and rules relating to it. Any candidate can contest in one
or more Prabhag (cluster of wards). The proposer and seconder on his nomination
form should be a voter from the Prabhag where he/she wishes to contest. The
candidate can contest on only one seat in one Prabhag.
