Kolkata, 24 December (H.S.): Senior BJP leader Amit Malviya launched a scathing attack on the West Bengal government and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, making serious allegations on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In his post, Amit Malviya stated that while radical mobs in Bangladesh are selectively targeting and brutally murdering Hindus, in West Bengal, the state government itself is perpetrating atrocities against Hindus through the police, especially against those peacefully protesting the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Amit Malviya alleged that the brutal police lathi-charge on peaceful Hindu protesters on Tuesday is a dark stain on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's tenure. He said that Mamata Banerjee is not only the Chief Minister but also the Home Minister of the state, and therefore, she is entirely responsible for this incident.

The BJP leader termed this police action a direct attack on democracy and freedom of expression, stating that it proves that attempts are being made to suppress the voices of Hindus in West Bengal.

This statement is likely to escalate the already tense political climate and trigger further sharp exchanges in the state.
