24 Dec (HS): A junior clerk has been detained for allegedly raping a juvenile

under the guise of marriage and defrauding her of almost Rs 7 lakh, according

to authorities. Ashish Singh reportedly met the victim in September 2022 when

she was 16 and went to the treasury office, where he worked, to process pension

paperwork following the death of her cancer-stricken mother, police said. Station

House Officer Vivek Trivedi stated that Singh acquired her trust by promising

to expedite her pension-related duties. He eventually developed a relationship

with her under the premise of a marriage proposal. According to the victim's

allegation, the accused repeatedly raped her throughout this time. He also

allegedly defrauded her of around Rs 7 lakh, according to the SHO.

The

victim discovered Singh's marriage to another lady in November and reported it

to the City Kotwali Nagar police station. An FIR was filed, and the accused was

apprehended on Lucknow Road, according to the SHO. Legal processes against the

accused are presently continuing while the police investigate the financial and

criminal sides of the case.
