Bhubaneswar, 21 December (H.S.): The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested Sri Rajendra Kumar Samantray, Forest Range Officer (FRO) of Rahama Forest Range in Jagatsinghpur district, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

According to an official press release issued by Odisha Vigilance, Sri Samantray will be produced before the Court of the Special Judge (Vigilance), Cuttack, later in the day.

The arrest followed extensive searches conducted at multiple properties linked to the accused officer, during which Vigilance officials allegedly detected assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. As per the release, the seized assets include one palatial multi-storeyed building, one double-storeyed building, five valuable land plots, cash amounting to ₹3.69 lakh, gold weighing around 250 grams, and bank deposits worth approximately ₹80.68 lakh. The accused reportedly failed to satisfactorily explain the source of these assets.

In this connection, a case has been registered against Sri Samantray at Cuttack Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 37/2025 under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

Further investigation into the matter is currently underway, the Vigilance release added.
