21 Dec (HS): Employees enthusiastically participated in a bicycle rally
organized at Banaras Rail Locomotive Works (BAREKA) on Sunday, marking the
first anniversary of the nationwide Sunday on Cycle campaign under
the Fit India initiative. Participants gathered at the BAREKA Golf
Course gate to participate in the rally. In cold and foggy weather, Sushil
Kumar Srivastava, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer and President of BAREKA
Sports Association, flagged off the rally at 9 a.m.
The
rally began at the BAREKA Golf Course gate, passed through the Railway
Protection Force check post, Surya Sarovar, Nathupur Gate, in front of
Bhullanpur Railway Station, and concluded at the BAREKA Stadium. The enthusiasm
of the participants was palpable throughout the route. The rally participants
conveyed the message of making cycling a part of daily life, in line with the
Fit India pledge of Healthy Society, Bright Future. It
was called that Sunday on Cycle is not just a campaign but a mass
movement towards a healthy India in which participation of every citizen will
become the basis of a bright future in the form of sustainable development of
the country.
Chief
Mechanical Engineer (Production and Marketing) and General Secretary, BAREKA
Sports Association Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Ankur Chandra and other
officers, coaches and players from various sports academies, RPF jawans, St.
John's Ambulance Brigade, Civil Defence and members of Bharat Scout Guide were
present in the rally.
