Chennai, 21 December (H.S.) : Tiruvallur, December twenty one: A shocking case of patricide has come to light in the Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu, where two sons allegedly murdered their father using a venomous snake to claim insurance money worth three crore rupees.
The victim, identified as fifty six year old Ganesan, was a lab assistant at a government girls' high school. He was found dead at his residence in Pothaturpettai on October twenty two with marks resembling a snakebite. Initially, his elder son Mohanraj filed a case of accidental death to facilitate the insurance claim process.
The investigation took a dramatic turn when the insurance company flagged suspicious behavior and irregularities, leading to the formation of a Special Investigation Team.
Authorities discovered that the family had significant loans that were disproportionate to their known income. Police officials stated that Mohanraj and his brother Hariharan conspired with four others to execute the crime.
The group reportedly procured an Indian krait and released it in the house while Ganesan was sleeping. The snake bit him on the neck, and the family intentionally delayed seeking medical assistance to ensure his death.
A week prior to the successful murder, the accused had reportedly made an unsuccessful attempt on Ganesan's life. Police used call records and financial transaction history to establish the link between the sons and their four accomplices.
According to the statements from the investigating team, all six individuals involved in the conspiracy have been arrested.
The authorities emphasized that the cold blooded nature of the crime for financial gain has sent shockwaves through the local community.
