Telangana, 21 December (H.S.): Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday underscored the timeless significance of meditation as a cornerstone of inner peace, emotional stability, and social harmony. Addressing the World Meditation Day celebrations at Kanha Shanti Vanam in Telangana, he said meditation embodies a universal practice that transcends cultural, geographical, and religious boundaries.

Emphasizing India’s spiritual heritage, the Vice-President recalled India’s instrumental role in co-sponsoring the United Nations General Assembly resolution declaring December 21 as World Meditation Day. He described the day as global recognition of meditation’s power to promote mental well-being and spiritual growth.

Radhakrishnan also commended Heartfulness Guide Daaji (Kamlesh D. Patel) for his outstanding contribution in popularizing meditation across the world.Highlighting India’s civilisational legacy, he observed that meditation has long been regarded as an ancient science of the mind and spirit, nurtured by sages and seers through millennia.

Quoting insights from the Bhagavad Gita and the Tamil spiritual classic Thirumantiram, the Vice-President said mastery of the mind through meditation leads to self-realisation, inner balance, and ethical living.Radhakrishnan further remarked that meditation has a crucial role to play in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

He asserted that national development must encompass not only economic advancement but also emotional and spiritual enrichment, adding that meditation can significantly contribute to building a peaceful, compassionate, and resilient society.

Citing the principles of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the Vice-President pointed out that meditation instills mindfulness, responsibility, and harmony with nature—values essential for sustainable living. He lauded Kanha Shanti Vanam for adopting eco-friendly practices and promoting holistic well-being.

Calling upon citizens to integrate meditation into their daily lives, Radhakrishnan urged individuals, families, and communities to lead by example and motivate younger generations to embrace meditation as a path to mental tranquility and social cohesion.

The event was attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, State Minister D. Sridhar Babu, spiritual guide Daaji Kamlesh D. Patel, and several dignitaries, along with thousands of practitioners who joined the mass meditation session at Kanha Shanti Vanam.
