Gandhinagar, 13 November (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the national celebration of 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' (Tribal Pride Day) in Gujarat's Narmada district on Saturday, November 15, to mark the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will also visit the revered Yahamogi Devmogra Dham, a significant pilgrimage site for tribal communities in the region.

National Celebration in Narmada

The main event will be held in Dediapada, Narmada district, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, according to the State Information Department. Inspired by Prime Minister Modi, the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda is being celebrated grandly across the country.

The decision to observe November 15 as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas' was made by the Prime Minister to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and cultural heritage of the tribal community.

Visit to Devmogra Dham

During his visit, the Prime Minister will seek blessings at the famous Yahamogi Devmogra Dham. Situated in the Satpura mountain range, this shrine is a major center of faith for tribal communities from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

The temple is dedicated to Pandori Mata (Yahamogi), the ancestral goddess of the tribals. Legend holds that the goddess, in the form of 'Kani-Kansari' (grain goddess), provided endless food during a severe famine thousands of years ago.

Cultural Significance

The Devmogra Dham is a living symbol of tribal faith, tradition, and culture. It hosts a grand five-day fair during Mahashivratri, which offers a unique glimpse into tribal folk culture and attracts lakhs of devotees. During the fair, a procession is held, and forecasts for the upcoming agricultural year are made based on traditional rituals. The tribal community observes unique traditions, such as offering the new harvest to the deity before consumption and performing traditional dances like the 'Gheriya' during Holi.
