Bhopal, 24 May (H.S.): The body of Twisha Sharma was handed over to her family after a second post-mortem examination conducted by a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi, marking the latest development in the high-profile death case in Bhopal. Her husband, Samarth Singh, has also been sent to seven-day police custody after surrendering in court.

The second autopsy was ordered by the Madhya Pradesh High Court after the family challenged the earlier post-mortem findings and sought a fresh examination. Reports said the first autopsy had recorded hanging as the cause of death, along with multiple injuries, while the family continued to allege dowry harassment and foul play.

According to reports, Sharma’s body was taken out of AIIMS Bhopal and placed in a hearse van after the second examination, and she is expected to be cremated later in the day. Her family had reportedly appealed to people in Bhopal to join the funeral procession.

Investigators have named Singh and his mother, Giribala Singh, a retired judge, as accused in the case, which began after Sharma was found hanging at her in-laws’ home on May 12. Police have said the matter remains under investigation, while the family has pressed for a more independent probe.
