
New Delhi, May 24(HS): Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena congratulated Punjab sprinter Gurindervir Singh for scripting history with a remarkable 10.09-second run, describing the achievement as a historic moment for Indian athletics.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the Lieutenant Governor said that Gurindervir Singh’s achievement in becoming the fastest Indian sprinter with a stunning 10.09-second sprint was an extraordinary accomplishment that would inspire countless young athletes across the country.
“He has become a shining example of how focus, discipline, and unwavering dedication pave the path to greatness,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He further expressed confidence that Gurindervir Singh would continue to scale new heights at the international level, win medals for the country, and bring pride to India through many more record-breaking performances in the future.
Notably, during the Federation Cup Athletics Championships held in Ranchi, Gurindervir Singh broke the national record in the men’s 100-metre sprint twice within two days. After clocking 10.10 seconds on Friday to set a new national mark, he surpassed his own record on Saturday with an even faster timing of 10.09 seconds, creating history in Indian athletics.
