New Delhi, 8 January (H.S.): After the announcement of Delhi Assembly Elections-2025, Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) R. Alice Vaz on Wednesday held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties at the national and state level to brief the parties on the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and election expenditure monitoring measures to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.

In the meeting, the CEO emphasized the importance of following the Model Code of Conduct. This code of conduct came into force immediately after the announcement of the election schedule. He highlighted the key guidelines for political campaigns, ethical practices and prohibition of activities that disrupt the electoral process.

The CEO also outlined measures to monitor election expenditure, including the appointment of expenditure observers, monitoring teams and setting up of control rooms to track violations. He urged political parties to maintain transparency in campaign finances and submit expenditure statements within the stipulated time frame.

In the meeting, political party representatives openly asked their questions and the CEO answered them. Several representatives also gave feedback. Representatives of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bahujan Samaj Party (Delhi State), Bharatiya Janata Party (Delhi State), Communist Party of India (CPI) (Marxist), Indian National Congress (Delhi State) and National People's Party (NPP) attended the meeting.
