A 35-year-old youth was stabbed incident during a dispute between two groups at a tea shop in Kamari village school ground area under Kaliganj police station in Nadia district on Wednesday evening.
The injured youth has been identified as Suraj Sheikh, a resident of Chichipur village of Judanpur Gram Panchayat in Nadia district.
As per information, Suraj Sheikh had gone to watch a football match with his friends at Kamari school ground located a little away. At the end of the match, Suraj was standing at a tea shop near the football ground and taking tea. Then a dispute broke out between two groups in front of the shop. Due to the pushing and shoving, the tea cup in Suraj's hand fell on his body. When Suraj asked the people who were pushing and shoving to stop the ruckus, a person suddenly stabbed him on the left side of his stomach. Blood-soaked Suraj was first taken to the local Kaliganj block hospital from where he was referred to Katwa sub-division hospital in East Burdwan. The person who attacked Suraj with a knife could not be identified. The police of Kaliganj police station has initiated an investigation into the matter. According to hospital sources, Suraj Sheikh's condition is stable.
