Serampore MLA Dr. Sudipto Roy, who attended a blanket distribution programme organized on Sunday evening at Durga Maidan near Jha Ji Mor in Ward No. 19 of Rishra Municipality, claimed that the Rishra Seva Sadan Hospital, closed for a long time, will be restarted in the next six months. Initially, the hospital will have 50 beds, out of which 10 will be reserved for the elderly. Patients will be given free service in the hospital.
Notably, Rishra Seva Sadan Hospital was once the lifeline of Rishra suburb. But it was closed decades ago. After becoming the.chairman of Rishra Municipality, Vijay Sagar Mishra made continuous efforts to reopen this hospital. Mishra got full support from local MLA Dr. Sudipto Roy, MP Kalyan Banerjee for this cause and now the MLA has announced the reopening of the hospital with all the basic facilities.
However, during a programme organized under the aegis of local councillor Sadhana Singh on Sunday evening, blankets were distributed among about 500 needy people. Many dignitaries including Serampore MLA Dr. Sudipto Roy, Champdani MLA Arindam Guin, Rishra Municipality Chairman Vijay Sagar Mishra, Vice Chairman Zahid Hasan Khan, Councillor of ward number18 Sukh Sagar Mishra were present in the programme.
