3 January (H.S.): Allahabad High Court has stayed the arrest of SP MP Zia-ur-Rehman
Barq, accused in the case of instigating people for the violence that took
place during the survey on November 24 at Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal
district, but has decided not to quash FIR registered against the MP.
The
demand has been rejected. This order was given by the division bench of Justice
Rajeev Gupta and Justice Azhar Hussain Idrisi on Friday through advocate Imran
on behalf of MP Barq. After listening to Ullah and Syed Iqbal and government
advocate AK Sand on behalf of the state government.
The court has directed the
investigation of the case to continue and MP Barq to cooperate in the police
investigation. Sambhal police had also made SP MP Barq an accused in the
violence that took place on November 24.
An FIR was registered against him under
several sections. MP Barq had challenged the FIR in the petition and also
demanded that the FIR be cancelled.
