21 January (H.S.): STF killed four criminals in an encounter that took place at

night in Jhinjhana of Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. During this, STF

inspector Sunil was injured by bullets. Arshad, a criminal of Mustafa alias

Kagga gang, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head, was also among the

criminals killed.

Police

officials claim on the tip of informer, STF were acquainted that Arshad along

with his companions was going to pass through Jhinjhana police station area.

After this, STF laid a siege. When the criminals passed by, they tried to stop

them. On this, the criminals started firing continuously. STF gave a befitting

reply. Arshad and his three companions were injured in this encounter that

lasted for about half an hour. They were immediately taken to the hospital,

where doctors declared them dead.

Notorious

Arshad was wanted in a robbery case from Thana Behat (Saharanpur). A reward of

one lakh rupees was declared on him by ADG Zone. A dozen cases of robbery,

dacoity and murder were registered against Arshad. During the encounter,

Inspector Sunil, who was leading the STF team, was hit by several bullets. He was

immediately admitted to Amritdhara Hospital in Karnal. From there, he was

referred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

A

team of UP STF's Meerut unit killed Mustafa gang's Arshad, who had a bounty of

Rs 1 lakh on his head, and his accomplices Manjeet from Sonipat, Satish from

Karnal and another criminal at around 2 o'clock on Monday night in Jhinjhana of

Shamli district. The four criminals were trying to escape from Uttar Pradesh in

a car when the STF team surrounded them. During this, firing started from both

sides, in which Inspector Sunil was also shot. He has been admitted to a

hospital in Karnal in a critical condition.

STF

ASP Brijesh Kumar told the media that the team laid a siege on the information

that Arshad, a resident of Bahdi Mazra village of Thana Gangoh in Saharanpur

district, was hiding in Jhinjhana. Arshad and his three companions were killed

in the firing in response to the bullets fired by the miscreants. Arshad has

serious cases registered against him like murder, robbery, looting and Arms

Act. These include cases of robbery and loot in Behat of Saharanpur, murder and

attempt to murder in Thana Gangoh, robbery in Thana Nanauta, murder in Thana

Rampur Maniharan. Apart from Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, cases of fraud and

criminal conspiracy are also registered against him in Panipat district of

Haryana.

He

told that a reward of one lakh rupees was declared on Arshad by ADG Zone of

Saharanpur. Post-mortem of the criminals killed in the encounter is being done

in Shamli. Large number of arms and a car has been recovered from the spot.
