Guwahati, 17 January (HS): MP Dilip Saikia took charge as the new president of Assam Pradesh BJP on Friday at the headquarters in Guwahati. On this occasion, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal congratulated him. Sonowal said, Dilip Saikia has made a significant contribution in strengthening the BJP with his long experience, dedicated service, and organizational skills. Under the guidance of BJP National President JP Nadda, Saikia will take the party to new heights in Assam. I express my best wishes for the success of his tenure.

Sonowal said, Today is Shilpi Diwas. On this occasion, I pay tribute to Roopkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala. His creativity and invaluable contribution have culturally enriched the Assamese society. His contribution in the freedom struggle was also incomparable.

Addressing the BJP workers, Sonowal said, From the formation of Jan Sangh to the organized form of BJP today, the party has traveled a long journey. I salute those who gave their all during this period. Today we have to work unitedly to serve Assam and the country. New dimensions of development are being established in Assam under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the efforts of all BJP workers. Under the leadership of new president Dilip Saikia, we have to work with full force to ensure success in all the upcoming elections.

Sonowal expressed gratitude to outgoing president Bhabesh Kalita and said, Under his leadership, the party successfully implemented many important programs. Now under the leadership of the new president, we have to work unitedly to make the organization stronger.
