Shivsagar (Assam), September 19 (HS): A police team conducted an operation in Halwating area of Shivsagar district and arrested a drug peddler with a huge quantity of banned drugs.

Police said on Thursday that during the operation led by the District Superintendent of Police of Shivsagar, the peddler was arrested with a huge quantity of drugs from the Nepali Basti of Halwating. The arrested peddler has been identified as Nooruddin Ali.

Ali is said to be a resident of Nepali Basti. The value of the seized drugs is estimated to be lakhs of rupees. Police are investigating the matter by registering an FIR under the NDPS Act in this regard.
