Mumbai, 12 February (H.S): The resignation of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Shankarrao Chavan from the Congress party has sent shockwaves through the political landscape. Chavan, who has also stepped down as an MLA, submitted his resignation to state Congress President Nana Patole on Monday. This unexpected move has fueled speculation that he may join the rival Bharatiya Janata Party and could even be rewarded with a Rajya Sabha ticket.

In his resignation letter, he simply wrote 'former' MLA from Bhokar Assembly constituency without providing any explanation for his decision.
