New Delhi, 4 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Wednesday for the passing away of squash legend Raj Manchanda.

He described Manchanda as a true legend of Indian squash, known for his dedication and excellence in the sport. Manchanda's passion for the game and his ability to inspire generations set him apart from others.

Beyond his achievements on the squash court, Modi also praised Manchanda for his service to the nation, as reflected in his military career.

In an official statement, the Prime Minister's Office wrote, I am saddened by the demise of Raj Manchanda ji, a true legend of Indian squash. His dedication and excellence in the sport were unmatched. He not only received numerous honors for his achievements but also had a passion for the game that inspired generations. Beyond his squash career, he also served the nation through his military service.

Manchanda, who passed away at the age of 79, was a veteran player who had won the prestigious Arjuna Award.

His contribution to Indian squash and sports will always be remembered. He was known for his sportsmanship and determination on the court, which made him a role model for many aspiring players.
