Kamrup (Assam), 1 December (HS): Hajo police of Kamrup rural district conducted a drive in Kalitakuchi area on the basis of secret information and arrested vicious cattle thief Mukhtar Ali and his other associate with a Scorpio vehicle.

Police said on Sunday that on last Monday night, Mukhtar Ali along with Mehrun Ali alias Khoru stole several cattle from Kamrup and Nalbari districts through another car. The car used in the cattle theft was recovered from the house of Mukhtar Ali's associate Mehrun Ali at Sarabari Bilpara in Hajo on the second day of the incident.

Police recovered two stolen cattle and other sharp weapons from the vehicle. Both Mukhtar Ali and Mehrun were absconding in this incident. Both the absconding cattle thieves were arrested by Hajo police from Kalitakuchi on the basis of secret information early Sunday morning. Scorpio (AS-01AM-7844) was seized from the arrested accused. Both the arrested accused used to steal animals from different areas of the state through car and take them to the animal market and sell them. Police is conducting intensive interrogation of both the arrested cattle thieves on the basis of the FIR already registered in this regard.
