Hailakandi, (Assam), 30 November (HS): Two police officers have been suspended on charges of beating a car driver in Hailakandi. Police said on Saturday that the police officer in charge of Panchgram police station in Hailakandi district and ASI have been suspended from service.
Police officer in charge Kalpjyoti Bora and ASI Dilowar Hussain Lashkar have been suspended from service. Both have been suspended on the orders of the Superintendent of Police of Hailakandi. Hailakandi police has meanwhile arrested two middleman in connection with this incident.
It is worth mentioning that a few days ago a driver named Moinul Islam Lashkar was called to the police station and beaten up by ASI Dilowar Hussain Lashkar at night. Moinul Islam Lashkar was called and beaten up by the Panchgram police for uploading a video on social media. Moinul Islam Lashkar was released from the police station after taking ₹20,000.
The victim Moinul Islam Lashkar lodged a complaint with the Hailakandi Superintendent of Police regarding the entire incident. After investigating the allegations, Hailakandi police suspended both of them.
