Prayagraj, 14 November (HS): Accepting aspirants'
demands, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Thursday
postponed the Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) exams and
declared that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) preliminary exam would be
held on the existing pattern. The Commission also announced the formation of a
committee to oversee RO and ARO examinations. The UPPSC has decided to postpone
the RO and ARO exams and hold the PCS pre-exam on the existing pattern,
according to an officer standing outside the UPPSC office. A number of
candidates are protesting outside the UPPSC building, demanding that the tests
be held in a single shift.
While some candidates were pleased with the
announcement that the PCS preliminary exam will be conducted as before, many
studying for the RO and ARO exams were unhappy.
Aspirant Rahul Pandey stated that they will
continue the agitation until a resolution is made on the RO and ARO tests. We
do not trust this announcement because no formal notification has been posted
on the Commission's website in this regard, Pandey stated.
Another aspirant stated that the administration
is implementing a divide and rule tactic and referred to it as a
partial decision so that PCS preliminary exam candidates can leave from here. When
called, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak stated that the government will
work in the students' best interests and support them. He said that decisions
will be made with the students' best interests in mind.
During his visit to Prayagraj earlier in the day,
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav voiced the students' demand. Those
who preach about 'One Nation, One Election' can't manage exams in a single day,
Yadav remarked, criticizing the BJP government. The Commission had set December
7 and 8 for the PCS preliminary test, and December 22 and 23 for the RO and ARO
preliminary exams.
