Guwahati, 13 November (HS): Two people have been arrested here with a huge amount of fake Indian currency notes. Chief Public Relations Officer of Assam Police said on Wednesday that based on the information received about the transaction of FICN, a team of STF of Assam Police reached Khanapara to execute the input. On seeing the police team, the criminals started running towards Koinadhara-APSC road by driving their Maruti Suzuki A-Star car at a high speed. The car was chased and stopped on Koinadhara-APSC road itself. Two people in it were arrested.
The items recovered in the said raid include FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes, which included 740 notes of 500 denomination) worth ₹3,70,000 and a mobile phone. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammed Sahil Ali (21, Kamrup) and Harsh Wahlang (20, Ribhoi, Meghalaya).
Later, a search was conducted at their rented house i.e. 9 Mile, Baridua, Meghalaya under the leadership of Mohammed Sahil Ali. The items recovered in the said raid include FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes, including 635 notes of 500 denomination) of face value of ₹3,17,500, one FICN printing machine, one bundle of white papers cut in the shape of ₹500, one bundle white printing papers wrapped with brown cello tape and one bundle white printing papers.
The total amount of counterfeit notes recovered in both the raids is ₹6,87,500 (six lakh eighty seven thousand five hundred) and one four-wheeler. Necessary legal formalities are being completed.
