Delhi, 23 October (HS) : The 2023 US Open Karate International Championship was truly a remarkable event, showcasing the talent of karate competitors from around the world.

The city of Las Vegas, USA, was illuminated with excitement as Syed Mohammed Hussain won the gold medal in the Advanced category of the US Open Karate International Championship in 2023. With representatives from fifty nations vying for the title, Hussain triumphed over his American adversary in the Kumite division and marked a consecutive victory for himself. His remarkable victory is an inspiration to all aspiring martial artists and speaks volumes of his dedication and hard work.

Competing in the men’s division for ages 18 to 34, and weighing in at -74 kg, Hussain demonstrated exceptional prowess, thus solidifying his position as one of the nation’s top karatekas. Syed Iftquar Hussain – his mentor and chief instructor at the esteemed Pako Martial Arts Academy – expressed immense joy at his protege’s triumph. He also spoke of their aspirations for success at the upcoming Asian Games; “He stands as the unequivocal No.1 karateka in the nation, and he has once again demonstrated it. This gold medal at the esteemed US Open will undoubtedly boost his confidence as he prepares for the Asian Games later this year”.

Hussain’s legacy of excellence has been evident over the past decade; he has reigned as national champion in his weight category since then. In addition, he secured international gold in both the 2015 and 2018 Sharjah Open Championships. His achievements were recognized by the Telangana government, awarding him with the coveted Best Player Award in 2021.
