New Delhi, 20 July (H.S.): Delhi Police has intensified security arrangements across the New Delhi district ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and the proposed “Chalo Sansad” march announced by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), stating that no permission has been granted for the planned protest march.

The police issued a public advisory on Sunday, clarifying that no request for approval had been received or accepted for any procession or march towards Parliament. Authorities said prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which replaced Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), are currently in force in the New Delhi district.

According to the advisory, protest marches, demonstrations, processions and gatherings involving five or more people are strictly prohibited in the restricted area, except at the designated protest location of Jantar Mantar where prior permission has been obtained.

The proposed march has been called by the CJP over allegations of irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET-related issues, and demands for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Delhi Police warned that individuals violating the prohibitory orders could face prosecution under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant legal provisions.

Ahead of the Parliament session, security measures have been significantly strengthened in central Delhi. Police have deployed additional personnel, increased barricading, intensified vehicle checks and enhanced surveillance around sensitive locations, including Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place and areas surrounding Jantar Mantar.

Officials said multi-layered security arrangements have been implemented, with additional checkpoints, anti-sabotage inspections, CCTV monitoring and round-the-clock patrolling in place. Security forces have also been kept on standby to deal with any law-and-order situation.

A senior police official said authorities are taking preventive measures to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament and maintain public safety. Vehicles entering the New Delhi district are being thoroughly checked, while additional security pickets have been established at key points.

Special security arrangements have also been made at Jantar Mantar, where a three-tier security system has been deployed to regulate movement and maintain peace. Police officials said the arrangements will continue throughout the Parliament session.

The heightened security comes amid developments at the protest site, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has continued an indefinite hunger strike. The situation gained further attention after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital following deterioration in his health during the protest.

Wangchuk, in a message from the hospital, appealed to supporters to participate in the proposed July 20 Parliament march. Authorities, however, have reiterated that any gathering or procession without official permission will not be allowed in restricted areas.
